Questions & Answers

Everything you need to know about Stelais

What is Stelais and how does it work?

Stelais is a provenance platform that creates timestamped, verifiable records of your files. We generate a unique fingerprint (hash) of your content and write it to a permanent record, establishing proof of when this file existed — a record no one can edit, not even us.

What types of content can I register?

You can register any digital content including images, videos, documents, music files, code, and more. Stelais supports most file formats and generates verifiable fingerprints for your uploads.

How does the invisible watermarking work?

Our watermarking embeds data directly into image files using DCT (frequency domain) or LSB (pixel level) techniques. These watermarks are invisible to viewers and can help identify copies of your files. Note: watermarks may not survive all types of image manipulation.

Is my content stored permanently?

Your file is stored in private object storage so we can render previews in your vault and re-check it during similarity scans. The fingerprint and signed metadata are written permanently to Arweave, a public permanent-storage network — that's the part that's irrevocable. The file itself can be removed if you delete the proof.

How much does Stelais cost?

Stelais offers a free plan with 10 lifetime proofs and 3 similarity scans. Our Pro plan ($19.99/mo) includes 100 proofs per month, 250MB file uploads, DMCA takedowns, unlimited scans, and monitoring tools. The Studio plan ($49.99/mo) offers unlimited proofs with 1GB file uploads. Studio Pro ($99/mo) raises the file size limit to 5GB for video, RAW, and large multitrack workflows. All plans include verifiable timestamps, invisible watermarking, and public proof pages.

Can anyone verify my content is protected?

Yes. Anyone can verify the existence of your content at a specific timestamp using our public verification system. Simply share your proof link or use our verification tools to confirm the record and registration date.

What happens if someone steals my content?

Stelais provides timestamped evidence that your file existed at a specific moment. This record can support DMCA takedown requests by demonstrating prior existence. However, Stelais records do not establish legal ownership—consult a legal professional for copyright disputes.

Is my data secure and private?

Your files are stored in encrypted private object storage and only served via your authenticated vault. The fingerprint and signed metadata in the permanent record are public by design — that's what makes the timestamp verifiable. We do not share your files with third parties.
